About Our GuardaVent by Karymi Discount Codes
About Us – GuardaVent, Childproof Vent Covers for the Home
Hi, I’m Michele – a mom of two from Northern Alberta, Canada.
The Karymi Company name (pronounced carry-me) comes from a mesh of our family names; Kari, Kasey, Ryder & Michele. Kari is my husband, and Ryder and Kasey are my adorable kids!
This is us:
Here in Canada and in many parts of the USA, we have floor vents in our homes. Homes are built this way to distribute the heating and cooling. But there’s a serious problem with the vent covers we are currently supplied with – they are not attached to the floor – and this makes them kid magnets.
I even remember being fascinated by the vents when I was a kid. We put cars and other things down them for fun. I’m sure it drove my parents crazy (especially with five kids). Then I totally forgot about it until I became a mom myself.
It all started when my 7 month old, who had just learned to crawl, pulled one of our vent covers off in the living room, which was also his play area. Once he figured out he could do it, he kept going back for more – and it was actually really scary for me because I noticed a lot of screws sticking out on the inside of the vent, and sharp sheet metal around it that he could hurt himself on. Then 2 years later his sister started doing the same thing when she learned to crawl, and she added a new level of frustration to it by putting things down into the vents. Now I was really determined to find a solution! Naturally, I googled “childproof vent covers” hoping that I would find something to solve all my problems…but the answer I wanted couldn’t be found on Google, or on Amazon or at Home Depot, or at Canadian Tire, or at Home Hardware…not anywhere! So the wheels in my new mom post-partum brain started turning – and that’s when GuardaVent was first imagined!
Once I had the idea, I couldn’t let it go. I decided if anyone was going to invent a childproof vent cover, it would have to be me. So, with no prior experience or any solid plans, I started the invention journey. I designed it, tested it, got a patent pending status, and talked to many manufacturers before I chose one in Canada. I worked for two and a half years before I would hold a ready to sell GuardaVent cover in my hands. It was a lot of time, a lot of money, and a lot of questioning myself – but I pushed through, and I’m so proud of what I created. Now it’s time to share it with other parents!
I know GuardaVent is a great product, and it will keep our children and homes safe. I love that it’s functional, it looks nice, and unlike most other childproofing products, you won’t end up removing it and throwing it away – like a doorknob cover or drawer locks – a GuardaVent cover can stay in your floor forever. It also gives a home a smoother, more finished feel when you have vent covers that stay put. Ceiling and wall vent covers are secured, so why not floor vent covers too?
What I want parents and caregivers to realize is that it’s ok to need help, it’s ok to struggle with parenting, and it’s absolutely ok to use childproofing products. There is no one right way to parent, we are all just doing the best we can in this crazy world!
Shop GuardaVent today and enjoy the safety and convenience of a vent cover that stays in the floor.
